Pets Have Feelings Too

Having a pet can be amazing. It’s someone to snuggle with, to comfort you when you’re down, to play with when you’re happy. Pets are often loyal to a fault, standing beside their owner, and trusting in them to provide and care for their needs. Unfortunately, not all animals are fortunate enough to have a good home.

Five Startling Facts About Animal Homelessness

  1. 480554093Every year in the United States, some 3.9 million dogs and 3.4 million cats are abandoned, most ending up in local shelters.
  2. In the United States, homeless animals outnumber homeless people by five to one.
  3. Only 1 out of every 10 dogs born will find a permanent home.
  4. Every year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because shelters are too full and there are not enough adoptive homes.
  5. According to the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy (NCPPSP), less than 2% of cats, and only 15-20% of dogs accepted by shelters are reunited with their owners.

4 Paws Rescue – (website)

4 Paws Rescue is a 501(c)3 based in Jefferson Island, Montana. We are close to Cardwell.  We do not have a shelter at present, but  house all the pets in my home.  All pets are spayed/neutered, have all their vaccinations and are microchipped prior to adoption.  Their mission is to alleviate needless, inhumane suffering of animals and to teach the people of our region a higher level of compassion for the creatures who share our planet with us. We strive to find homes for each and every one until all have a permanent, loving home.

What Fine Fabric Care Does

Fine Fabric Care is proud to partner with our local shelters to assist with getting the word out to potential adopters. In addition, one of the most common reasons for giving pets up is their soiling of carpets and flooring. Fine Fabric Care is more than capable of cleaning up such messes, especially if it means a permanent home stays open for the pet. Give us a call at (406) 782-5339. We will even provide a free bottle of pet spotter (with unlimited refills) if you drop by our office at 101 Gallatin, in Butte!

What You Can Do

The next time you are looking for a pet, skip buying from a breeder or pet shop, and head to your nearest shelter. There are so many wonderful cats, dogs, and other pets desperately looking for a home. Of course, donations of supplies, money, and time in any amount are always also appreciated! Contact one of the local shelters above if you are able to assist in such a way.
